Patel Engineering Wins ₹230 Cr Dorjilung Hydropower Project in Bhutan.
Patel Engineering has secured a ₹230 crore contract for pre-construction works of the Dorjilung Hydroelectric Power Project in Bhutan, marking a significant addition to its international order book. The company said it received the Letter of Award for Package I from Dorjilung Hydro Power Limited, which is developing the 1,125 MW project. DHPL is a joint venture between Druk Green Power Corporation Limited and Tata Power Company Limited. The Dorjilung project is Bhutan’s largest hydropower initiative under the public-private partnership (PPP) model and is aimed at meeting domestic energy needs while exporting surplus clean power to India, enhancing regional energy security. Commenting on the win, Kavita Shirvaikar, Managing Director of Patel Engineering, said hydropower remains central to Bhutan’s energy future. She added that the company is exploring additional hydropower opportunities in Bhutan and neighbouring countries, underscoring its commitment to sustainable growth and regional collaboration.
