GRSE, Modest Infrastructure to Build ₹3,000 Crore Greenfield Shipyard in Gujarat.

State-owned Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) will form a joint venture with Modest Infrastructure Pvt Ltd to develop a ₹3,000 crore integrated greenfield shipyard at Ratanpar in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district. The project, to be executed in phases, will be GRSE's first major shipbuilding facility outside Kolkata and aligns with the Centre's vision of making India a global shipbuilding hub. Spread across 58 hectares with a 1.4-km waterfront, the shipyard will be capable of building vessels of up to 45,000 Deadweight Tonnage (DWT), along with offshore support vessels and repair facilities. The project has already received environmental clearance recommendations. Backed by the government's ₹1.69 lakh crore shipbuilding revitalisation package, GRSE is also exploring entry into container manufacturing following the Union Budget's ₹10,000 crore incentive scheme. The expansion reflects India's ambition to rank among the world's top shipbuilding nations by 2030 and the top five by 2047.
