Leadership overhaul aligns with ‘Suzlon 2.0’ vision to diversify beyond wind energy

Suzlon Energy Appoints Ajay Kapur as Group CEO, Sets Up Executive Council.

Suzlon Energy has announced a major leadership restructuring under its ‘Suzlon 2.0’ strategy, appointing Ajay Kapur as Group Chief Executive Officer and constituting a Group Executive Council (GEC) to drive long-term growth. The board-approved appointment takes effect immediately. As Group CEO, Kapur will lead Suzlon’s transformation as it expands from a wind-focused business into a diversified renewable energy company spanning solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and emerging technologies. Kapur brings over 36 years of experience across infrastructure, construction, power, and heavy metals, and previously served as Managing Director of Ambuja Cements Limited. An economics graduate with an MBA from K J Somaiya Institute of Management, and an alumnus of The Wharton School, he is known for scaling operations and strengthening financial discipline. As part of the restructuring, J.P. Chalasani has been elevated to the GEC. The council will guide Suzlon’s medium- and long-term strategy, while an Executive Management Council led by the Group CEO will oversee execution. Executive Vice Chairman Girish Tanti said the move reflects Suzlon’s ambition to become a full-stack renewable energy solutions provider amid rapidly evolving global energy markets.
