Indian infrastructure firm secures key civil and hydro-mechanical works for 669 MW project.

Patel Engineering Wins ₹1,593 Crore Lower Arun Hydropower Project in Nepal.

Patel Engineering Ltd has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) for a ₹1,593.08 crore contract related to the 669 MW Lower Arun Hydropower Project in Nepal. The contract has been awarded by SJVN Lower Arun Power Development Company Pvt Ltd and covers Package 2 of the project, encompassing civil and hydro-mechanical works. The scope includes construction of major infrastructure such as head race tunnels, surge shafts, pressure shafts and the powerhouse, along with associated facilities including a switchyard and tail race channel. The package also involves the installation of steel liners, draft tube gates and related equipment, besides the development of access roads and supporting infrastructure. Located in Nepal’s Sankhuwasabha district, the project is scheduled for completion within 54 months. Managing Director Kavita Shirvairkar said the order marks a strong start to Q1 FY27 and aligns with Nepal’s ongoing efforts to expand its hydropower capacity.
