Goyal seeks UAE funding, Indian workers’ training key to ambitious project.

India Eyes $500 Billion Housing Deal to Build 1 Million Homes in Australia.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has revealed that India is in “deep negotiations” with Australia to help build 1 million homes, pegged as a $500 billion opportunity. As part of the proposed deal, India will send workers to Australia for training in local construction standards, addressing the country’s housing shortage and high property prices. Goyal added that New Delhi has reached out to the UAE, a major global investor in real estate, to partner in financing the massive project. The move comes as India positions itself as a key global trade partner amid growing demand for affordable housing worldwide. Goyal stressed the need to seize such opportunities, warning that missing out would be India’s loss. Alongside this, India is advancing trade talks with Oman, New Zealand, the EU, and others, aiming to expand its export markets to over $825 billion in FY25 despite recent US tariff challenges.
