Jewar Airport to Be Inaugurated Soon After Licence Clearance.
The Union government has announced that the Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh will be inaugurated soon after receiving its aerodrome licence. Informing the Rajya Sabha, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu said that operations typically begin within 45 days to two months after licence approval by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, following consultations with bodies such as the Airports Authority of India. Airlines are being approached to plan flight schedules, and a major inauguration event is also being planned. Highlighting infrastructure growth, the minister said India has expanded operational airports from 74 in 2014 to around 166 today, aided by the UDAN Scheme, which has operationalised 663 routes. The government is also advancing airport projects in Telangana, including Mamnoor, Kothagudem and Adilabad, reinforcing India’s position as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally.
