DP World Acquires 49% Stake in Reliance-Developed MMLP Near Chennai.
Dubai government-owned DP World Ltd has acquired a 49% stake in a soon-to-be-operational multimodal logistics park (MMLP) at Mappedu near Chennai, developed by a unit of Reliance Industries Ltd, sources said. The transaction aligns with the concession agreement, which permits equity dilution up to 49%, according to National Highway Logistics Management Ltd. The project will be operated through Chennai Global Logistics Park Ltd, which has appointed Ajay Moghe as CEO. The Mappedu facility is India’s first MMLP under the Bharatmala Parivartan with private funding and is being developed over 184 acres in three phases. Phase 1, costing ₹1,397 crore, is set to begin operations soon. Strategically located near Chennai Port, Ennore, Kattupalli Port and Chennai Airport, the MMLP will have strong road and rail connectivity. Up to 35% of revenues are expected from Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd, with the remainder from third-party logistics users.
