Amazon Seals Chennai’s Biggest Office Deal of 2025 with 2.2 Lakh Sq Ft Lease.                                                                                                                                   

Amazon Development Centre India has signed the largest office transaction in Chennai this year by leasing 2.2 lakh sq ft of flexible workspace from WeWork. The 40-month lease will host over 3,500 work units, strengthening Amazon’s presence in southern India while spotlighting Chennai as a rising corporate hub alongside Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Industry experts say the deal reflects Amazon’s confidence in Chennai’s strong talent pool and infrastructure readiness. This expansion underscores the growing demand for flexible and scalable office spaces as corporates shift toward agile workplace solutions. For Amazon, the move is part of its broader India growth strategy spanning e-commerce, cloud, and global technology operations. Previously, Amazon leased 4.73 lakh sq ft at Ramanujan IT City, Chennai, between 2017 and 2019, paying rentals of ₹90–₹ 106 per sq ft per month. The latest deal further cements the city’s position as a strategic real estate destination for global giants.
