Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi announced that the cost of solar power in India has dropped to just ₹2.15 per unit, and ₹2.70 per unit with battery storage, marking a milestone in the nation’s clean energy journey. Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana, Joshi highlighted that India’s solar capacity has surged from 2.8 GW in 2014 to 125 GW in 2025, positioning the country as a global solar leader. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long-term vision and Gujarat’s leadership, noting that 60% of the state’s installed power capacity now comes from renewable sources. Joshi also lauded Modhera, the world’s first 24x7 solar-powered village, as a symbol of India’s energy transformation. Urging collective action against climate change, he called on youth and industries to embrace renewable energy for a sustainable future.
