From coal to clean energy — Singareni charts a diversified growth path.
Telangana’s Singareni Collieries to Expand Beyond Coal, Foray into Green & Critical Minerals.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday announced that state-run Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will diversify into thermal, solar, and green energy, along with venturing into critical minerals exploration. The move comes as existing coal reserves near depletion, making expansion vital for the company’s long-term sustainability. Jointly owned by the Telangana and Union governments in a 51:49 ratio, SCCL has recently secured exploration licenses for gold and copper blocks in Karnataka’s Raichur and Devadurga regions, with a 37.7% royalty share ensuring steady revenues. Exploration is set to begin soon. The company is also preparing to enter the global critical minerals sector under a new arm, Singareni Global, with an international agency studying opportunities. Through Singareni Green Energy Limited, it is advancing solar and pumped storage projects to strengthen renewable capacity. Officials said the diversification will create jobs, secure revenues, and ensure sustainable growth.
