Driving Make in India with Green Innovation
Obedullaganj Rail Hub to Go Green, Generate 5,000 Jobs.
CM Mohan Yadav announced the ₹1,800 crore “Brahma Project” rail coach manufacturing hub at Obedullaganj, to be built by BEML Limited on over 60 hectares in Raisen’s Umariya village. Operating entirely under the “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” frameworks, the facility will source most technology and materials domestically, reducing foreign dependence. The project will create over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, benefiting Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Vidisha, and the Mandideep industrial area, with special opportunities for local engineering graduates. Developed as a green factory, it will feature solar and renewable energy, zero liquid waste, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable construction materials. Initial capacity will be 125–200 coaches annually, scaling to 1,100 in five years, including Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Metro coaches. The hub aims to make Madhya Pradesh a leader in defence manufacturing and globally competitive in high-speed rail production. Bhoomi pujan will be held on August 10 by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
