Kandla Port Sets Record with Fastest-Ever 125 MMT Cargo Handling.
Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has created history by achieving the fastest-ever handling of 125 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in the current financial year, reaffirming its leadership position among India’s major ports. With 72 days remaining in the financial year, the port is poised to set a new all-time cargo handling record. According to an official release, the milestone reflects DPA’s operational excellence, strong infrastructure, efficient planning and seamless coordination among stakeholders. Congratulating the port community, Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman of DPA, lauded the collective efforts of port users, trade unions, officers, employees and shramiks for achieving the historic feat. The achievement further reinforces Kandla’s reputation as a “Port of Progress,” contributing significantly to India’s maritime growth and economic development. Recently, the port also hosted a high-level Danish delegation led by Maritime Counsellor Josefine Pallesen. Discussions focused on zero-carbon pathways, green technologies and sustainable port development, highlighting DPA’s commitment to decarbonisation, renewable energy and environmentally responsible operations.
