Commission cites prolonged delay, broken assurances, and unfair trade practices by developers.
Ghaziabad Consumer Forum Orders Builders to Refund ₹7 Lakh Over Delayed Flat.
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Ghaziabad has directed two real estate developers to refund a total of ₹7 lakh with interest to a homebuyer after failing to deliver a flat booked in 2008. The order was passed against Shreva Developwell Private Limited and Sangwan Heights Private Limited, along with a penalty of ₹10,000 each, to be paid within 30 days. The complainants, Siksha Bharadwaj and her son, had initially invested ₹6 lakh in a project by Shreva Developwell, which remained incomplete. They were later persuaded to shift their investment to a second project in Rajnagar Extension, but neither allotment nor possession was provided even by the promised 2018 deadline. After repeated refund delays and unfulfilled assurances, the commission held both developers liable, ordering refunds with interest and compensation, citing a clear deficiency in service and unfair conduct.
