A milestone in efficiency and competitiveness for India’s largest container gateway.
JN Port Ranks 23rd Globally, No.1 in India in World Bank Port Index.
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), led by Chairman Unmesh Wagh, has secured the 23rd global rank and India’s top spot in the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2024, reflecting its rising global stature. Located near Mumbai, JN Port handles over half of India’s container cargo and has been recognised among the top 20 global improvers between 2020–2024. The port’s CPPI score jumped significantly due to added terminal capacity, faster turnaround, and process reforms. JNPA handled a record 7.3 million TEUs in FY25, a 13.55% rise from last year. With average ship turnaround at just 22 hours, faster than ports in Singapore and the US, JNPA is emerging as a global benchmark. Wagh credited teamwork and private terminal operators like PSA, DP World, and Gateway Terminals for lifting efficiency, positioning JNPA as a gateway of choice for global trade.
