The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is urging Indian private companies to invest in Africa’s growing solar sector.
With 30 solar projects underway across schools, health centers, and water systems, ISA sees strong potential for India to lead Africa's solar transition, leveraging its rural electrification experience and diplomatic ties. ISA is in talks with 7–10 African nations, including Ethiopia and Zambia, for large-scale solar projects worth $50–400 million. ISA aims to de-risk investment, support policy frameworks, and train local talent through STAR-C centers. With 38 African member countries now active, ISA’s vision includes cross-border energy infrastructure and increased private sector participation to accelerate Africa's solar adoption and bridge its vast energy access gap.
