Strengthening NH-154A today for safer Himalayan travel tomorrow.
Centre Approves ₹93.56 Crore to Strengthen Vulnerable Embankments on NH-154A in Himachal Pradesh.
The Central government has sanctioned ₹93.56 crore for the special repair and strengthening of vulnerable embankments along National Highway-154A in Himachal Pradesh. The approval follows repeated monsoon-induced damage, especially in the Chamba district, where landslides and erosion have frequently disrupted travel and endangered commuters. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said the State had consistently pursued the matter after assessing extensive post-monsoon losses and holding detailed discussions with district authorities. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has now issued both technical and administrative clearance, approving a phased plan—30% work completion in 2025–26, full completion in 2026–27, and structured maintenance through 2032. The project aims to ensure long-term road stability along the Chakki–Banikhet–Chamba–Bharmour stretch, a crucial route for tourism, trade, and daily mobility. Officials noted that the sanction will significantly enhance road safety, disaster preparedness, and uninterrupted connectivity across the hill state.
