PM Surya Ghar Yojana Crosses 1 Million Rooftop Solar Installations

Over 1 million households have adopted solar power under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced. Launched in February 2024 with a ₹75,021 crore budget, the scheme aims to solarise 1 crore homes by March 2027. As of March 10, 10.09 lakh installations have been completed, adding over 3 GW of rooftop solar capacity. The initiative has received 47.3 lakh applications, with ₹4,770 crore in subsidies disbursed to 6.13 lakh beneficiaries. DISCOMs, acting as state implementation agencies, oversee net metering, inspections, and installations. The government aims to solarise 20 lakh households by October.
