Mumbai is undergoing rapid redevelopment alongside major infrastructure projects, causing concerns about worsening air quality due to rising construction activities.
To combat pollution, the BMC imposed GRAP-4 regulations in January. However, CREDAI-MCHI President Domnic Romell stated that redevelopment projects are not the primary cause of AQI issues, crediting BMC’s efforts like sprinklers and flooring screens to contain dust. He emphasized that infrastructure work contributes more to pollution. Speaking at the launch of the Ease of Doing Redevelopment (EODR) 2.0 exhibition, Romell stressed that redevelopment is essential for Mumbai’s future. With over 2,000 projects underway, EODR 2.0 aims to create transparency and efficiency in redevelopment for thousands of housing societies across the city.
