Karnataka Leads India in Wind Energy with 7,351 MW | Global Wind Day 2025

Karnataka has topped the nation in wind power capacity addition, installing 1,331.48 MW in FY 2024–25.

Energy Minister K.J. George received the award from Union Minister Pralhad Joshi during the Global Wind Day 2025 event in Bengaluru. Karnataka’s total wind power capacity now stands at 7,351 MW, reflecting its leadership in clean energy. Tamil Nadu and Gujarat followed with additions of 1,136.37 MW and 954.76 MW, respectively. George highlighted Karnataka's commitment to achieving 17 GW of wind projects, with over 5 GW under the Renewable Energy Cluster Programme. Infrastructure is being upgraded with 400 KV corridors and 20+ substations. At the Global Investors Meet, the state secured ₹4 lakh crore in renewable energy investments. Union Minister Joshi emphasized India’s goal of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, including 100 GW from wind. He also released a roadmap to scale domestic wind turbine manufacturing, reinforcing India’s global leadership in green energy.
