JSW Steel will invest over ₹50,000 crore to build a 10 MTPA green steel plant at Salav in Raigad over the next 3–4 years, driven by EU green mandates.
This brownfield project will cut emissions to one-fifth of conventional levels. Chairman Sajjan Jindal also expects the government to impose safeguard duties against Chinese and Vietnamese steel dumping. Highlighting strong domestic demand, he stressed India needs 20 MTPA new capacity annually, requiring $20 billion investment. JSW aims to become the world’s largest steelmaker with 100 MTPA capacity from the current 34.2 MTPA. The group also plans to manufacture battery cells with Chinese and Korean tech and will launch JSW MG Motor India’s IPO in 2–3 years.
