INOX Air Products has commissioned its first green hydrogen plant at Asahi India Glass Ltd's (AIS)
Greenfield float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Powered by solar energy, the plant will generate 190 tons of green hydrogen annually through electrolysis, reducing CO2 emissions by 1,250 tons per year. AIS has signed a 20-year off-take agreement with INOX for continuous green hydrogen supply. In the first phase, 95 tons per annum will be supplied. The plant marks India’s first use of green hydrogen in float glass manufacturing, promoting sustainable production. AIS aims to meet 94% of its power needs at the facility through renewable sources, strengthening its commitment to sustainability and decarbonization.
