India's renewable energy capacity reached 220.1 GW as of March 31, 2025, with solar leading at 48%, followed by wind (23%) and large hydro (22%), according to JMK Research.
A pipeline of 143.8 GW in solar, wind, hybrid, and storage projects is under implementation, with 66.1 GW in the bidding phase. In FY25, 16.9 GW of utility-scale solar and 5.1 GW of rooftop solar were added—rising 47% and 72% year-on-year, respectively. Wind capacity rose 28% to 4.2 GW. Q1 2025 saw 5.93 GW utility-scale solar and 1.87 GW wind additions. Major players include Adani (36.2 GW), ReNew, and NTPC. NTPC and ReNew submitted the lowest solar tariff at ₹2.56/kWh. RE investments in Q1 2025 hit $6.2 billion, up 34% from Q4. Module prices dropped 22% YoY. Waaree led module shipments, while Sungrow topped the inverter market. Exports rose significantly, led by Adani and Waaree.
