Honeywell has launched Protonium, an AI and ML-enabled technology suite designed to enhance the efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of green hydrogen production.
The technology will be first deployed by Aternium at its upcoming Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2), one of seven hydrogen hubs backed by the U.S. Department of Energy. Protonium addresses key industry challenges such as power intermittency, high production costs, and carbon intensity. It leverages predictive control algorithms to boost electrolysis efficiency and optimize plant operations. Aternium’s CEO Andrew Cottone cited Protonium as essential for achieving high safety and efficiency. The launch aligns with Honeywell’s broader strategy to drive the global energy transition by advancing electrification and accelerating clean fuel adoption.
