Haryana CM Announces New Initiatives for Gig Workers, Law Enforcement, Housing, and Environment
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced key initiatives in his 2025-26 budget speech, focusing on social welfare, law enforcement, and environmental conservation.
Empowering Gig Workers
A new scheme will provide financial stability, social security, and better working conditions for gig workers. A dedicated portal will facilitate registration and insurance coverage.
Criminal Law Reforms & Law Enforcement
Three new criminal laws will be implemented by March 31, 2025, with fast-track courts for drug cases and a centralized NDPS monitoring cell. ₹10 crore has been allocated for modern policing, including cyber police cells.
Social Welfare & Affordable Housing
A ₹50 crore Divyangjan Kosh fund will support differently-abled individuals. Under PMAY (Urban) 2.0, a pilot project in Sonipat will offer 1,600 rental flats at concessional rates.
Environmental Conservation
Tree conservation initiatives and designated riverbank immersion sites aim to reduce pollution in the Ghaggar and Yamuna rivers.
Police Modernization & Religious Tourism
₹300 crore has been allocated for upgrading Haryana Police. Senior citizens from low-income families will get free pilgrimages to religious sites under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana.
Labour & Women Empowerment
Labour courts will increase from 9 to 14. Mahila Chaupals will be set up in 754 villages for women’s development.
MLA Development Funds
Each MLA will receive ₹5 crore for constituency development, disbursed in three instalments.
