Govt to Invest ₹3 Lakh Crore for US-Like Highways in Assam

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a ₹3 lakh crore investment to build US-standard national highways in Assam. Key projects include the Guwahati Ring Road (₹5,800 crore, completion by December 2027), a ₹12,000 crore tunnel under the Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh, and an elevated highway over Kaziranga National Park. Gadkari emphasized the priority on Northeast infrastructure, highlighting job creation, improved connectivity, and economic growth. He assured that funding is not an issue and that the projects will transform Assam’s highway network, boosting development and accessibility.
