Shyam Metalics Commissions Phase II of Jamuria CRM, Coated Steel Capacity Rises to 0.40 MTPA.

Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd has commissioned Phase II of its Cold Rolling Mill (CRM) facility for colour-coated steel sheets at its Jamuria plant in West Bengal, marking a key expansion in its flat products portfolio. The facility is operated by the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Shyam Sel and Power Limited, and commenced commercial production on April 16, 2026. Phase II includes an advanced Dual Pot GI-cum-Galvalume (GL) line with a capacity of 0.15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). With this addition, the total installed capacity of the Jamuria CRM facility has increased to 0.40 MTPA, including the existing Phase I capacity of 0.25 MTPA. The expansion positions the company to cater to high-growth sectors such as solar energy, automotive and consumer durables, including manufacturing mounting structures for solar panels. Chairman and Managing Director Brij Bhushan Aggarwal said the project will enhance value-added offerings and improve realisations. The expansion also aligns with the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI-2), supporting advanced manufacturing and import substitution.
