CREST (Chandigarh Renewal Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society) plans to implement.

The RESCO model for solar panel installations on government-built properties in Chandigarh, starting with the Chandigarh Housing Board’s Sector 51 Housing Society. Under this model, private agencies will cover installation costs and sell generated power to Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited at ₹4.96 per unit, while property owners receive yearly rent. The estimated investment is ₹15 crore per 3MW project. The initiative aims to boost solar energy production without financial burden on the administration. A similar plan for private properties awaits approval from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). CREST is finalizing tender documents to begin the project.
