Andhra Pradesh's upcoming capital, Amaravati, is set to become the world’s first city powered entirely by renewable energy, with plans to harness 2,700 MW from solar, wind, and hydropower.

Spread across 217 sq km, the ₹65,000-crore project emphasizes green urban planning, aligning with India’s climate goals. Amaravati’s infrastructure includes solar-powered public transport, widespread EV charging, and net-metered rooftop solar panels on all government and commercial buildings. A district cooling system, developed via a PPP with Tabreed, will cut cooling energy use by 50% in major buildings. The city’s integrated clean energy approach and sustainable design aim to position Amaravati as a global model for smart, eco-conscious urban development.
