Tuticorin’s VOCPA Signs ₹1.27 Lakh Crore Green Energy Pacts to Become South India’s Hydrogen Hub.
The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) in Tuticorin has signed 28 MoUs worth over ₹1.27 lakh crore, marking a major step toward establishing itself as southern India’s green hydrogen hub. Key agreements include Sembcorp’s ₹25,400 crore green ammonia storage project, ACME Green Hydrogen’s ₹12,000 crore 1,200 MTPD plant, and CGS Energy’s ₹5,000 crore 300 TPD ammonia facility. These strategic partnerships will drive port-led industrialisation, renewable energy expansion, and AI integration across operations. VOCPA Chairman Susanta Kumar Purohit said the collaborations will bring large-scale investments, job creation, and sustainable growth to the region. Supported by the Government of India’s green port initiatives, this development positions VOCPA as a future-ready maritime hub leading the nation’s green hydrogen and decarbonisation drive. With over ₹1 lakh crore in clean energy commitments, Tuticorin Port is steering India’s maritime sector toward a carbon-neutral horizon.
