Jawaharlal Nehru’s First Official Residence Sold for Record ₹1,100 Crore

Jawaharlal Nehru’s first official residence on Motilal Nehru Marg, formerly York Road, has been sold for an estimated ₹1,100 crore, marking the costliest residential property deal in India. The 3.7-acre estate, owned by Raj Kumari Kackar and Bina Rani of a Rajasthani royal family, has attracted a prominent businessman from the beverage industry as its new owner. While the asking price was ₹1,400 crore, the deal was finalised at ₹1,100 crore after nearly a year of due diligence. The property, with 14,973 sq metres of land and about 24,000 sq ft of developed space, is located in the prestigious Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ), home to ministers, judges, and senior officials. Built in the heart of Delhi’s power corridor, the bungalow stands as both a historical landmark and a prized real estate asset. A leading law firm has issued a public notice to settle title claims, signalling the final stage of the transaction.
